Passin' Thru, Comin' Thru, Walkabout - A bit about Perambulating

Perambulations - more than just wandering, it is sharing the wonder!

Borrowed the title phrase for this "Perambulating the Bounds" blog from some great musical story tellers of the past (rock musicians) - the James Gang's "Passin' Thru" from '72, Quicksilver Messenger Service's "Comin' Thru" in '72, the Fixx's "Walkabout" in '86, the Red Hot Chili Peppers "One Hot Minute - Walkabout" in '95 and a Seattle Rock band, 'Walkabout' from the '80s. Not trying to show may age and music preferences, but if you are not familiar with these songs, these musicians and the music of the "psychedelic era" of rock both originally in
the 60's and 70's and reincarnated in the 90's, then you should at least check them out 'thru' the Wikipedia link below.

Passin' thru
- I get but one chance to pass this way. Comin' thru - I want to leave this place, as I found it or better yet, more beautiful for the privilege of having perambulated this way. Perambulating the Bounds: To perambulate - a Latin phrase that means "to walk around". More specifically "to walk around with no particular destination in mind" or to amble (walk leisurely) usually in a public place. For more about perambulating check out the Google link below. In some places in the world this activity of "perambulating the bounds" is a very specific activity required annually by law.

My reference here in this "Perabulating the Bounds" Blog and my preference for perambulating particularly in the Poconos is to "walkabout", to roam or stroll an area "on foot". On foot, what a great idea to reduce ones carbon foot print! For more on walkabouts, an Arboriginal right of passage and a Nicolas Roeg cult film based on the book of the same title by James Vance Marshall in1959, then check out this Google link below.

What did you do today that really matters and is the Earth a more beautiful place because of it??

So get out and walkabout. More on Natural Places and Open Spaces - the "precious pieces of paradise" just waiting to be perambulated all across the globe to come in future "Perambulating the Bounds" postings. For informaiton about upcoming "Natural Places and Open Spaces" and/or "Precious Pieces of Paradise" Open Space Hikes as part of an on-going series of POCONO PERAMBULATIONS check out the Pocono Heritage Land Trust website at www.phlt.org

The forests, fields and streams are calling again.
Got to go for now.
Here to more days on the trail and in the stream.
More "walking and looking" posts to come.

. . . not all who wander are lost,
for wandering encourages wondering,
and without wondering -
it is our dreams that we lose . . .
